Brick made Septic Tank | Sewage Treatment Plant | Dehradun | Haridwar | Rishikesh | Roorkee | Delhi NCR
Brick made Septic Tank has a seepage pit or dry well instead of a drainage field. Both the tank and the Soak Pits are built of brick and mortar instead of RCC. Brick made septic tanks have less efficiency, take more space, time and effort to construct hence became obsolete nowadays because improper design, brick breaks down over time, due to earth quack or because of poor quality of workmanship. In such an instance, it is very difficult to re-brick and made same septic tank. Replacement of brick septic tanks was necessary sometimes after less than a decade of use, so home owners began looking for more reliable septic systems for residential or commercial buildings.
Septic tanks are being operated by gravity and do not normally require electric pumps. Each time influent enter into inflow or inlet pipe it will displace an equal volume of liquor at the effluent pipe. Septic tanks should be filled up with water when they are commissioned and thereafter will continuously overflow as long as there is raw sewage going into them. Overflow means liquor will flow out of the discharge pipe, not that liquor will overflow from the inspection chamber. Septic tanks should be designed with a retention time of at least 24 hours. It takes 24 hours for liquor to pass through the tank. The size of the septic tank should therefore be equal to or greater than the total volume of sewage waste produced in 24 hours.
This 24 hour retention time is enough time for the sewage waste to separate into three constituent parts: sludge, liquor and scum. 24 hours is not long enough to treat the sewage waste to an acceptable standard in brick made Septic Tank. Today’s septic tanks are typically made of Bricks, fiberglass, precast concrete, polyurethane, PVC or other plastics and proper care is needed for smooth operation. Instead of old fashioned septic tank nowadays people need improved septic tank design with use of latest technology, as well as the practice of ensuring that drainage pipes are never too close to ground water. In India where water tables are higher, other aerobic septic tanks like BioRobiX Sewer Treatment System should be installed to save underground water.
